Playgroup
Riccall Pre-School offers a safe, secure and stimulating environment giving children the opportunity to socialise with other children and learn how to join in with others.
Our staff are highly qualified and experienced in dealing with children of all abilities upto five years of age and each child is allocated their own personal key carer who is responsible for monitoring their progress. Some of our practitioners are trained in using basic Makaton Signing and Portage.
Six areas of learning and development meet with OFSTED Regulations and include:-
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World.
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
In addition certain sessions are held outdoors at Skipwith Common to encourage different learning opportunities and experiences in the natural world. Sessions last just over 2 hours and comprise of walks, climbing, snack time, singing, mark making and imaginative play.
Riccall Pre-school is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance and because of this all parents and carers are regarded as members also having full participatory rights which include the right to be valued, respected, be informed, consulted, involved and included at all levels. Parents and carers, as the first and most important educators of their children, are encouraged to work with us to ensure children benefit the most. Areas they can help are outlined in our prospectus.
During pre-school sessions we are able to provide snacks for the children which encourage healthy eating.
