Prince Andrew opened Community House on 10th May 2007.
This is the new home in Selby District for voluntry and community groups. The facility includes five fully equipped training rooms available for organisations to use.

Course 1: Early Stages
Understanding your Organisation and Project
23 MAY. 09.30 – 12.00
This two and a half hour course is aimed at groups who are in the early stages of developing a project which will require funding. The course will help your group ensure that you have the right tools in place to start fundraising for the project. It will help you understand the basics which funders will look for and some of the jargon they use.
Course 2: Early Stages
Funders and Applications
30 MAY. 09.30 – 12.00
This two and a half hour course is aimed at groups who have little experience of applying for funding. The course will indicate what resources are available for researching funders and provide you with an opportunity to use/access them. It will give you the confidence to find the right funder(s) to support your project. It will also provide you with some techniques for making a successful application.
Course 3: Intermediate
Developing a Fund-raising Strategy
6 JUNE. 09.30 – 12.00
This three hour course is aimed at groups which have had some experience of applying for funding. The course will provide you with the skills to write a fundraising strategy which will highlight the funding needs and priorities of your organisation. This will be essential to help your group focus on where it wants to get to, how this will be done and by whom.
Course 4: Intermediate
Improving Applications
13 JUNE. 09.30 – 12.00
This three hour course is for groups which have had some experience of writing funding applications. It will provide you with the skills to write a successful funding application/proposal which will grab the funder’s attention. It will ensure you have all the tools in place for communicating your project idea effectively and raise your awareness about why applications could fail.
Course 5: Experienced
Outcomes and Evaluation
20 JUNE. 09.30 – 12.00
This three hour course is aimed at groups which have had one, or more, year’s experience of applying for funding. This course will help you understand what funders mean when they refer to outcomes, monitoring and evaluation. It will provide you with the skills for understanding what your groups/projects outcomes are and how you could measure them. It will provide you with tools for monitoring and evaluating your project and the methods you can use.
Course 6: Experienced
Creativity in Fund-raising
27 JUNE. 09.30 – 12.00
This three hour course is aimed at groups with at least one years experience of fundraising who want to explore how they could do things differently in terms of fundraising. It will draw on the experience of everyone involved to help develop creativity, foster learning and share good practice.
